November 2015: In search of polar bears in Churchill, Canada

Background

Anything is interesting, if you have the right audience and the right storyteller. My career has been about putting those together. Building and finding audiences, and crafting stories to inform, educate, and advocate.

I’m a longtime open source user, advocate, and contributor. I’ve been working with and writing about Linux and open source since 1999. Currently I am the Head of Community at Percona, and have worked at Red Hat, Intel, Citrix, Novell/SUSE, and others.

I’m a member of the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) and former VP of Marketing & Publicity for the ASF. Have also contributed to Fedora, CentOS, Project Atomic, Apache CloudStack, Apache Incubator, and other projects.

Over the years I’ve written for Linux Magazine, LWN.net, ZDNet, NetworkWorld, Dark Reading, Linux.com, Linux Format, UnixReview.com, and many others.
